FAQ

1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;

3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.

6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?

7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:

8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.

9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.

13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.

14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

Go To Hebrew 2

Hebrews 2 proclaims that Jesus took off his deity & was made a little lower than the angels to redeem man. Angels came to bring judgment, Yet, Christ came to bring salvation. Christ is the captain of our salvation. Angels are messengers. Yet, CHRIST IS THE MESSAGE. Angels had no power to redeem man. CHRIST IS POWER. Christ came down to identify with man in suffering & to proclaim victory over Satan in his death. Jesus is the High Priest, our propitiation. He is a merciful & faithful High priest that can empathize with man. He makes reconciliation for our sins. He does not make atonement for our sins. HE IS THE ATONEMENT & TAKES AWAY OUR SIN.

We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.

In the same way that Hebrews 1 explained the deity of Jesus through OT scripture, Hebrews 2 continues and goes on to explain His humanity. Not only is He God's express image, creator, and holder of more authority than the angels, but He is also human, made like unto the seed of Abraham. He humiliated Himself and became like His brethren (us) in order to reconcile us to Himself and to obtain an experiential knowledge of our human experience. Not only does He know of our persecution, temptation and suffering, but He partook in them in an effort better help us through our . He did it all and He did it all for us. Thank you, Lord!

Hebrews 2... I couldn't get pass the first 3 verses...pay attention .... Our Father really loves us to come and speak to us Himself.... Why are we not taking heed! when we  consider something great we pay close attention and not neglect it. We would draw close....God did not put the world in subjection to Angels ... But to His Son...Satan has no power or authority over you...  When your in right relationship with Him... Because through Jesus we gain all that was lost in the garden... That's why we have to partake in his humility, suffering and death.... That we would be lifted up to Life, Joy, and Peace!!! Thank you my Brother (Yashua, Jesus).... I thank my Father for my suffering  and humility for without it I couldn't know Him or grow ...,

Lest... we should let them slip" might better be translated "least we drift away from them".  More We neglect God's Word, Prayer, Worship with God's people and other opportunities for spiritual growth  and as a result,.........we may start to drift.

The neglect of the Word of God and prayer, publicly and privately, is the cause of most "spiritual drifting".  We have the idea that believers today "under grace" can escape the chastening hand of God that was so evident "under law".  But to much is given, much is required!  Our Salvation is a GREAT Salvation purchased at a great price.  It brings with it great promises an blessings, and it leads to a great inheritance in glory.  How can we neglect it Hebrew Ladies?

Homework: Hebrews 2 We must heed the things we have heard, and not drift away. If we must take the word which came by angels seriously, how much more seriously must we take the word which came by the Son of God - who is greater than the angels. Jesus was made a little lower than the angels, suffered death, but was crowned with glory and honor. Through death he destroyed him who has the power of death – the devil. Jesus does not give aid to the angels, but he does to the seed of Abraham. GLORY!!! Jesus is our faithful high priest, making propitiation for our sins.
